Slowly getting there....

I'm starting to take care of the post-wedding stuff - getting stuff for the inevitable scrapbook together, getting rid of stuff no longer needed, posting vendor reviews to The Knot, lining up the Thank You's to be written (and warming up my writing hand - I NEVER write longhand anymore!), bugging our photographer to put the pictures up on his web page, evaluating what is left on our registry that we want to buy for ourselves, you know, the usual.

I had planned to make a little flower girl basket for our niece and flower girl Rebecca, but unfortunately, she and her dad couldn't make it across The Pond for the Big Day, so I have all the materials just sitting around, and nothing to really put them to use for. I'm debating making it the way I wanted to make it (as opposed to letting some Bridezilla dictate how I should make it for her) and selling it on Ebay when I get a chance. Beats letting it sit around and do nothing, and I might make a few bucks at the same time.

Part of the post wedding clean up is sorting out the sewing room, which became a bit of a dumping ground during the pre-wedding runup. I still need to repaint the ceiling and two walls - it's just too damn dark in there now with everything lime green. Must. Lighten. Room. Up. So I need to drag the little paint color card out from wherever it is hiding and drag my butt down to Kelly-Moore Paints and get some paint. Then I need to convince James to paint the room with me (after we paid Phillips Painting a small fortune to do a half-assed job painting half the house last year).

Still several leftover projects to finish up...

Christmas Stockings - I made Xmas stockings for J and I last year, but never got around to embroidering our names on the damn things. Must get around to that sometime before Turkey Day.

Kitchen Table Seat Cushions - I started one with a light blue denim to a) test drive the covered buttons (haven't done those since high school sewing class) and see what sort of color scheme would work in our kitchen. For the record, I love our kitchen's size and shape and the fact that we have a wall of windows overlooking the backyard and pool and a massive island but hate the Corian countertops (scratched up and generally blah) and the walnut custom cabinets (the whole damn house is FULL of f'ing walnut - I hate walnut! What's wrong with that European bleached pine look? Why didn't the bozo who built this house like that instead?!?) Okay, enough ranting about the shortcomings of the kitchen...

Basket Liner - the basket we used for our guest book sheets at the wedding is actually quite a nice size and shape for storing all these half-finished projects, so I'm probably going to buy some off-white heavy muslin and fashion a nice liner for it, so the half-finished project doesn't get snagged on the wood. I measured it up one day quite a while ago - must locate that sheet of paper again...

Wrap Skirt #3 - I bought vibrant, beach-y, hopefully Caribbean-like fabrics for three wrap skirts, meant to be worn while wandering hand in hand with newly minted husband on abandoned Puerto Rico and Nevis beaches during honeymoon. I actually managed to finish 2 of the 3 and (cue Meatloaf song) two outta three ain't bad, but I'm hung up on completion and, besides, the skirts were easy and looked half decent on (those of us with bulges in the middle and on the sides do well with wrapping clothes - just ask Trinny and Susannah.
